Unlocking Sales Among Untapped Prospects, Engineering Marketing/Sales Processes for Maximum Results
WHAT ARE "UNTAPPED PROSPECTS? Untapped prospects are a) accounts and sites with the same characteristics as your best customers, but are not in your marketing database, and are therefore invisible to you, and b) unidentified key player contacts within accounts and sites you are already targeting who are in the decision-making group for your product or service. These contacts are especially significant, because they represent a segment of your market you may now believe is visible to you but in fact, is not.HOW THE STAUTS QUO CREATES BLIND SPOTS Many marketing and sales techniques in use today practically assure that your company is overlooking major parts of your available market, missing viable prospects in the part of the market you are actively targeting.DATABASE BUILDING BY DRIVE-BY Sales people, including those that work for channel companies, generally build market knowledge through referrals and drive-bys. A “drive-by” is a situation in which a sales person is on their way to an appointment and notices a large building with an impressive logo and thinks, “They must buy what I sell somewhere in there.” The sales person adds the company name to a list of cold-call accounts. When business is slow, they might pull

Is It A Myth That Small Bussinesses Make Money On The Internet?
Many people who are thinking about starting a home based business wonder what will bring in the most money. There are so many rumours going around about people making thousands on the internet that the question does come to mind it this can really be true. When you think about how big the market is online then you realise that if you are selling goods you are virtually exposing them to the whole world. People all over are discovering the convenience of shopping online. Obviously there are business owners who are offering the goods for sale, so many business owners are making a lot of money out of all these shoppers. It is not something that happens overnight. You have to work for a place online and to get your site up and running takes hours of hard work. You will naturally buy a business from someone when you start out so that you will have the support of this person to get started until you have learnt from experience what to do. Make sure that you buy the business from someone who is prepared to give you training and support as long as you need it.Unfortunately there are always people who are dishonest so watch out that you are not caught by someone like this when you are purchasing a business. Watch out for promises of too much money too soon. You will rea
    Ineffective DMOZ

Webmasters who have tried getting sites listed in the free directory DMOZ have found it be a hit and miss attempt. Attempts to expedite the process make it worse, attempts to obtain acceptance status may make it worse, and in an industry only a few years old, many years can elapse before any inclusion is experienced, if at all. If DMOZ is the directory it believes itself to be, it should behave like that directory. As virtually any webmaster would concur – the chances of getting into DMOZ even with the best site in the genre, with original content, with a site that visitors love, with strong and constant traffic, excellent page rank and much more – are patchy, chancy and can even deteriorate a site’s rank if ever included if the editor wants it that way. Good search engine optimisation companies such as ourselves (see author bio) attain good rankings for their clients with or without the open directory. However a listing in the ODP makes this process easier by far, but the arcane and arbitrary behaviour by the open directory makes a submission far from open and unnecessarily frustrating

    Design Better PowerPoint
In my line of work, I find myself constantly producing PowerPoint presentations. Sometimes these are just individual slides (like a diagram or case study), sometimes they are templates, and sometimes they are whole, individual presentations. Most of my PowerPoint work is completed at my day job where I am an in-house designer, but my freelancing alter ego occasionally comes across a client needing some presentational pick-up. Over the years, I have built and edited hundreds of PowerPoint files.I know a lot of people think PowerPoint is the devil incarnate, but in the corporate world, it is an ubiquitous evil. To shake some of the negative stereotypes, I apply traditional design principals to make my company and clients look better than the competition. We go to 120 trade shows a year, and we present at every single one. We also use Macromedia's Breeze for hundreds of online demos. Our PowerPoint is often the first thing a potential customer will see from us, so it is critical (and easy) to make a good impression before they even receive a brochure.PowerPoint is used by nearly sales guy on the planet, with a whole industry of accessories built around the presentation guru / road warrior concept. It is employed for downloadable or live web demos, and it is even used (

    Corporate Flight Attendant Salaries
Pay. You know that business aviation pays more than commercial, in most cases a lot better, but you aren't sure what the going rate is for a corporate flight attendant. It might surprise you to learn that pay rates vary widely depending on the type of account you are flying for, your location, your responsibilities, experience, and more.Over the years I have discovered that the pay range is not set in stone. Typically, fractional operators [i.e., Netjets, Flight Options, Flexjet] pay less than charter operators [Part 135] who pay less than owner operators [Part 91]. Are there exceptions to this rule? Yes, of course. Other factors as mentioned above can play a significant role in determining what you will make. These factors include:Location. Business flight attendants based closer to major metropolitan areas command the highest salaries. New York and Los Angeles are the two most trafficked areas for private flying. Between corporate tycoons and Hollywood stars, these two metropolitan areas produce some of the most significant amounts of flying in business aviation. If you are located in Pocatello, Idaho or in Burlington, VT, the chances of you finding work in the first place are remote, unless a fractional operator hires you and allows you to airline to reposition

Customer Service at Home Depot and Lowes
Over the years thanks to competition it seems that the Big Box Hardware Stores like Home Depot and Lowes have gotten progressively better with their customers service. Why has this taken place? Well two reasons; one is competition and the other is because the customers have demanded it and by delivering better customer service the customers come back to shop more often and have a better shopping experience. They spend more time in the stores and therefore buy more and return to purchase more on subsequent following visits as well. And guess what both companies have reaped the rewards in customer loyalty and increased sales. Unfortunately this change of pace has also impacted the small hardware stores, which always gave great service you see.Had the Big Box Hardware Stores not gotten with the program they would not have succeeded as well as they have over their smaller competitors. It seems that in the past all we had heard about Home Depot and Lowe's was that you could never find what you needed and there was never any one available to help you.We all remember hearing these stories and perhaps had uttered these words ourselves and yet today you can always find someone to help you and generally they're helping someone else around the corner from where you are standin

Strategic Outsourcing: Testing the Outsourcing Waters and Staying Afloat
Before Gertrude Ederle began her historic swim off of Cape Griz-Nez, France, she underwent extensive training for endurance and technique—even though she was already an accomplished record-breaking swimmer with Olympic medals to her name. Outsourcing IT may not garner the same attention as being the first woman to swim the English Channel, but it is no less important to gather as much experience and knowledge as possible on a small scale before diving in for the big swim. The trend toward IT outsourcing is increasing dramatically. According to a report by Foote Partners, as much as 45% of North American IT work will be outsourced by 2005. And there are good reasons behind this trend. Bruce Caldwell, principal Gartner analyst believes companies can generate 20-30% savings through outsourcing. This substantial savings potential isn't easily overlooked, yet it isn't the number one reason companies are choosing to outsource right now. In a recent survey by The Outsourcing Institute, the primary reason behind outsourcing is to improve company focus. Other motives include freeing up internal resources, accessing top-notch capabilities, and accelerating time to market. The survey also indicated that 55% of firms who outsource do so within IT—more than any o
r clients with or without the open directory. However a listing in the ODP makes this process easier by far, but the arcane and arbitrary behaviour by the open directory makes a submission far from open and unnecessarily frustrating. Here’s why DMOZ has become a liability to good search results on the web.

    Submission Process:

To submit to DMOZ – the webmaster will go to DMOZ.org, find the most appropriate category – fill out the fields required and submit. Sometimes there is an automated indication of the success of the submission (not of acceptance, just the submission), and sometimes there isn’t. Did the submission occur? If you attempt to submit again when the submission was accepted – just not indicated – you will harm the chance of being included in the directory. If you submit several times because you’re not getting any indication that the submission was successful – you’ll be seen as a spammer. Sites that may be already accepted in the past may now be in jeopardy – and the one you are now attempting is particularly at risk. Forum postings from DMOZ editors suggest this is completely wrong – that the process wor
