There's Diamonds In Your Backyard - Part 1 - Building Relationships - The True Gems in Business by installing the Google toolbar in Internet Explorer (the "official" way), a PR checker extension in Firefox, or by using one of the many online utilities, such as the one at http://www.bsleek.com/tools/link_popularity.php (which also checks Link Popularity and presence in DMOZ).I came to understand the true meaning and value of a business relationship over 10 years ago after spending thousands of dollars in traditional advertisements with little return. This is not to say that traditional advertising is wrong – I just didn’t have the money to do it! I then realized that without the funds to do consistent traditional advertising that I had to develop business relationships that would provide referrals, as well as resources.Once I started meeting with other business owners one-on-one I discovered that no advertisement or marketing plan in the world could beat the true value of developing a business relationship that involves trust, value and the willingness to share and refer. How many times have you heard the saying, “the diamonds are in your own backyard”? You know it’s really true! After evaluating where my business came from in 2003, it was either through a referral or from a relationship that I had developed.Yes, develop a good business relationship and just like the brilliance of a diamond, it will shine throughout your business in the form of referrals and profit. In plain English, if other sites are linking to your site, your site is popular, therefore it is useful and deserves a boost in rankings, so people can find it faster and easier. Link Popularity is not specific to Google only, but was adopted by the vast majority of Search Engines. Link Popularity is only one of the many factors (good content, number of pages, text, anchors, internal links, static URLs, keywords, meta tags, and many, many others) that are used in calculating your place in a search result page (ultimately, this is what all of it is about - how findable you are in a search). PageRank (PR) is specific to Google and is a trademarked proprietary algorithm. There are many variables in the formulas used by Google, but PageRank is primarily affected by the number of links pointing to the page, the number of internal links pointing to the page within the site and the number of pages in the site. PageRank focuses strictly on the quantity of links and is directly influenced by the PageRank of the pages that are linked. In Google, Link Popularity puts more emphasis on the quality of links (ex. links from sites related to yours by topic or by industry rank much higher than links from non-related sites). PageRank - as the name suggests - is specific to a web page, not to a web site. Every page on your site has a PageRank and every one is different, based mostly on your linking system. Generally - but not always - the goal is to achieve maximum PageRank on your main page, the one people hit when first entering your site. You can check the PR of a page by installing the Google toolbar in Internet Explorer (the "official" way), a PR checker extension in Firefox, or by using one of the many online utilities, such as the one at http://www.bsleek.com/tools/link_popularity.php (which also checks Link Popularity and presence in DMOZ). You don't know all the people who have given their hard earned money to get their home moved, only to have their move date changed constantly or have their homes damaged by inept movers. And when the home is finally moved, it is not set up right. Remember, by having a signed contract, you have the legal right to make sure your home is taking care of.Make sure the Toter driver moving your home has LIABILITY and or CARGO INSURANCE. This covers your home if there is damage and it's his fault. Your mover should have this insurance in his truck at all times, so don't believe any excuses, and demand to see it. I've repaired many homes that were damaged by careless toter drivers, who didn't have a lick of insurance. The main reason you will get a low bid for a move, is because these guys have low overhead. If we didn't bother with insurance or drove toters that shouldn't even be on the highway, our overhead would be low too. Also, What I like to suggest to customers, is to contact their homeowners insurance agent, and i Link Popularity is not specific to Google only, but was adopted by the vast majority of Search Engines. Well, the former is dependent on the latter. What this means is that for every ecommerce business there is an entrepreneur that had to balance risk and reward and determine to move forward with a business plan, proposal and ecommerce site.Entrepreneurialism is bolstered by the ability to develop a business that can reach around the world and back.Entrepreneurialism is the mindset and soul of a business; ecommerce is how an entrepreneur can realize a very personal dream.Entrepreneurialism is a patchwork quilt of ideas that seeks out likeminded consumers through ecommerce. These two roles are uniquely different, but also distinctly compatible in the development of an online business. In all phases of development the entrepreneur should express positive emotion as the very thing only dreamed about comes closer to becoming a reality. There are many wannabe entrepreneurs who have dreams, but th PageRank focuses strictly on the quantity of links and is directly influenced by the PageRank of the pages that are linked. Defining the current stage of your project is important so you don't waste your time or the time of potential venture capitalists.Early Stage Financing:Seed Financing--A small amount of money is involved (usually $50,000 or less). Funds are used to develop a concept. This is the earliest stage of venture capital financing. The investor (often referred to as an angel) is expecting to reap a large percentage ownership should the concept prove to be feasible and marketable.R&D Financing--This is a tax-advantaged partnership set up to finance product development. Investors secure tax write-offs for their investments. If the product becomes successful, they share in the profits.Startup--Money is used for product development and initial marketing. While startup companies are organized, they typically have not yet sold their products commercially.First Stage--The entrepreneur usually has developed a prototype. EBay takes no prisoners. If you don’t get your act together from the start then you can get swallowed up and spit out before you really get to grips with the eBay marketplace. Follow these simple tips and strategies to ensure that you dominate eBay – rather than having eBay dominating you.Firstly, get to grips with the rules of eBay. Learn what you can do, what you shouldn’t do and what you can’t do. Learn how you can and can’t sell items. Learn what you can and can’t sell and learn how to treat your customers.Once you’ve learned the rules, make sure you stick to them. There’s no point in learning them if you intend on breaking them. Don’t break the rules or the eBay ‘police’ will shoot you down and suspend your account and there’s sometimes no way to get it back. You should also learn how to treat your eBay customers. Your customers are the lifeblood of y In Google only, PageRank is one of the factors that influence Link Popularity. PageRank (PR), developed by Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin at Stanford University is considered to be the heart of Google's software. PageRank solves an equation of more than 500 million variables and 2 billion terms. Instead of counting direct links, PageRank interprets a link from Page A to Page B as a vote for Page B by Page A. PageRank then assesses a page's importance by the number of votes it receives and by the PR of the page which casts the vote. There are two types of incoming links that can effectively contribute to increasing your Link Popularity: 1. Links from other sites that focus on the same keyword phrases you do. In other words, if a site that can be found in search engines by using a search phrase like "corporate cd-rom presentations" links to your site, and your site actually specializes in designing interactive media, like CDs or DVDs, then that link will help your Link Popularity. But if your site is about selling onions, then the mentioned link will be useless. 2. Links from relevant categories in major directories industry-specific directories and portals. The most important major directory is DMOZ (who feeds data to many others) and is the toughest to get in. Submission is free and there are actually people reviewing your site. The waiting times are in the months order, so my advice is submit and forget. The industry-specific directories are very important. For example, if you make interactive media, and list your site in a directory dedicated to graphic design or media under the appropriate category, then search engines like Google will pick that up as an incoming link and will increase your Link Popularity. Listing your site in such a directory is very useful to your potential visitors, and this is what Google is trying to emulate with its software. Remember, with Google and many others, there are no humans reviewing your pages, but software acting under very specific and strict rules (algorithms). Both types of links I described above can be unilateral or recipr
