    Getting Into Your Buyer's Shoes
    The storyA few weeks ago, I met Chris* at a networking event. We chatted about what his company was doing and what my business was all about. He quickly realized that his company's online solutions could be beneficial for us and said, "Charlie, we should really meet soon so that I can show you our solutions that can lead you to more business." We had fairly good rapport and my company was then currently considering improvements to our online approach, so I was willing to respond to his suggestion.A few days later, Chris called me and we set a meeting. During the meeting, he showed me a brochure with all his company's solutions and kept asking whether t

    Fear of Failure: For a Marketer, It's the Kiss of Death
    Susan B. Anthony was once quoted as saying “Failure is impossible”. And you know what? I believe she was right because regardless of the outcome of whatever action you take, in anything you do, you always gain something from taking action.On the other hand, fear of failure typically shows up as procrastination or inactivity which is the complete opposite of what fosters great marketing which for most of us requires properly targeted consistent and persistent action.Now maybe you tried some marketing, even worse maybe you spent some of your hard to come by, hard earned money and didn’t quite achieve what you ultimately set out for.As a marketer
    Why is it that some artists seem to make easy money on eBay while others struggle to break even? Seller A and seller B could be selling paintings of the same calibre, yet seller A turns a good profit year in year out and has Powerseller status, while seller B struggles to even make a profit at all. Often it has a lot to do with the look of their auction listings.

    I have been selling my original artwork on eBay for 5 years now and boy was I green when I started off. I didn't own a digital camera - I used an ordinary camera with film ... you know that old stuff ... I would take photos of my artwork, then tramp into town, wait three days for the film to be developed, then scan the prints into my computer. The quality of my photos were obviously pretty poor in those days.

    I didn't know anything about HTML, templates, how and when to list to get optimum benefit from my auctions. It's a wonder I even got off the ground! But get off the ground I did - though dogged persistence and a willingness to learn, I went from selling paintings for a couple of pounds/dollars, to earning a good full time living. These days I am a Powerseller and often get hundreds for my paintings.

    Boeing, Oracle, EDS, And Other High Profile Companies Have Drawn Great Benefits from Mind Mapping
    Mind Mapping, if you are not aware, primarily uses non-linear methods and leans heavily on association and links. These very features of Mind Mapping lend the technique a great deal of power and simplicity, and the resourcefulness of the technique emerges only from the actual application. You will find that Mind Mapping greatly facilitates group activities and hence is ideal for Brainstorming, Project Planning, Presentation and whole lot of other applications as you can creatively apply.What is of significance is that Mind Maps are a great boon in large business corporations, where thousands of executives or employees have to undergo training, or managers a

    Who Will Buy SCO?
    For the last year I have monitored the declining financial condition of SCO as they bleed away cash on both ill-advised litigation and ill-conceived products. In the past week various news organizations have belatedly followed my lead, speculating on when SCO's death knell will sound.Given the financial inevitability of SCO's demise, the more interesting question is "who might buy SCO?" Lord knows SCO is a cheap stock, running just north of a buck per share this afternoon and facing delisting if it sinks much further. With a market cap of a measly $23M, any one of a number of players could gobble it up in an instant. If there is any meat on SCO's bones,

    Fundamentals of Communication
    Most of the verbal communicating you do is from one individual to another. This is true whether you're in a family, social, or a work setting.One-on-one verbal communication affords the greatest opportunity for precision, because immediate feedback can tell you whether you were understood accurately.But communicating effectively involves more than just accuracy.The purpose of most communication is to influence the attitudes and behaviors of those whom we address. Since the human race is composed of billions of individuals, each with a different way of responding, no one approach is universally effective. So it's important that you learn to ex

    So, here are my top tips to make your art auctions stand out and promote you from part - time pin money earner to top seller;

    1; Think about KISS .... Keep It Simple Stupid! A listing that has lots of different colours, fonts, animated pictures, text in capitals can be very confusing for the reader. Don't bombard people with too much information.

    2; Be factual in your description. If your item has a fault - list it. This way a buyer knows exactly what he/she is getting and there will be no negative feedback later. I have sold paintings that had repairs where they had had small rips in them. I was honest in the fact that the paintings weren't perfect, but my buyers were perfectly happy because they knew beforehand what they were buying.

    3; Never be negative. Recently one artist who was struggling to sell anything at all (despite being a very good artist) complained how eBay just wasn't working for him. After looking at his auctions I could see why! His listi
