How WLS Patients Defeat Ourselves: Learning to Play Ball

I spent over a year and a half living and working at the Grand Canyon. During that time I had the opportunity to go on a few different hiking and backpacking trips and was able to see the Grand Canyon from many different perspectives. If somebody was traveling to the Grand Canyon and wanted me to recommend just one easy Grand Canyon hike to them I would recommend Shoshone Point.

Shoshone Point is a Grand Canyon hike not known to very many people. Even many of the local Grand Canyon residents don't know about this Grand Canyon hike. It is a secluded area that is accessible only by a one mile hike down a closed off dirt road. The hike itself there is very easy and not strenuous at all. It is all level ground. From this isolated perch you will be able to enjoy wide unobstructed views of the Grand Canyon.

Shoshone Point also has an outhouse, picnic tables, and if I remember right a firepit and barbecue. While I was there the outhouse was locked up, but they may open it up during the summer months. Visitors must be extremely cautious if they choose Shoshone Point for their Grand Canyon hike. This area does not have any guard rails so care must be taken while near the edge of the rim.
