Biz Ops and Business Opportunities Must Substantiate Earnings Claims
The Federal Trade Commission is considering a new proposed rule, which would require Biz Op's and business opportunities to substantiate earnings claims that they may to potential buyers if the buyer requests them. Such earnings claims proof will hopefully eliminate much of the fraud that goes on in the business opportunity sector.Below is a copy of the Federal Trade Commission's proposed rule on substantiate earnings claims to potential buyers to ask for them;Proposed section 437.5(f): Written substantiation for earnings claims“Proposed section 437.5(f) would prohibit a seller who makes an earnings claim from failing to provide written substantiation to prospective purchasers and to the Commission upon request. Rather than mandating that business opportunity sellers include documentation for earnings claims – which could be voluminous – in the earnings claim statement itself, section 437.5(f) would reduce compliance costs by requiring only that such materials be provided to potential purchasers and to the Commission upon request. Purchasers could then review the documentation if they so choose.”Most business opportunity practitioners are indeed honest, however many simply make up huge numbers that the buyer may potentially make if they buy the business opportunity. Machiavelli: The Prince - Its Business Implication
IntroductionMachiavelli teachings and thoughts will never go out of fashion as power will always remain the center of both the political and corporate world. His writings are as relevant today as they were in the 16th century. In the last decade and half with increasing competitiveness and globalization number of managers have started using his principles in the corporate world. The book was first written kept in mind the political times of 16th century but number of its lessons are applicable in business today. In this paper we will step by step analyze the business needs in today’s corporate world and simultaneously relevant agreement or criticism of Machiavelli philosophy will be provided.Leadership and CultureMachiavelli stressed that the key to maintain the rule of the kingdom and to leave a legacy a Prince should try to maintain a balance between the subjects’ respect and aspire glory.“A prince who has established himself as above, who can command, and is a man of courage, undismayed in adversity, who does not fail in other qualifications, and who, by his resolution and energy, keeps the whole people encouraged — such a one will never find himself deceived in them, and it will be shown that he has laid his foundations well” ( Machiavelli, Chapter 21)The above excerpt just explained the need for building a sound orga

9 Ways to Connect with Your Customer
How many times do you need to connect with people to get a response? If everyone responded to marketing campaigns, there would be a great deal of work to spread around. The truth is that it takes three readings of your information to have it sink in. This does not mean your information only needs to go out three times, it means that there must be at least nine touch points in order to get three reads. The first few times the ad or information pass in front of a prospects eyes, they may not even notice it. After a few more times, the content becomes a little more familiar and it starts to get noticed. By the ninth time, there is total recognition. The recognition does not necessarily come at touch point seven, eight, and nine. It could be at various points during the campaign. By why would you want to quit at nine times? The answer is that you would not want to quit and lose the momentum of the campaign that is getting results.Campaigns can take many forms. The nine repetitions do not all have to be in the same format. A campaign could consist of a direct mail letter, a phone call, an email, a postcard, a trade magazine ad, a sponsorship plus more. If there is a combination of media then only using a particular form just once is not wise. Consider using alternating forms in a series of repetitions. For example send a letter, an ad, and th

Performance Management System: When Expectations Are Not Clear!
IntroductionThere were two incidents, which inspired me to write this write-up, “When Expectations are not clear”. Sometime back, I had this interaction with a CEO of one of the most famous company in Bangalore, in his words, “it is impossible to give clear-cut job responsibilities and job specifications to an employee”. Second incident was an e-mail from one of my friend from Noida, stating, “Sanjeev, I expected a lot from you but you failed”. Well, having expectations are important and equally important is to communicate it properly. Why Expectations? Before I start expecting anything from others, I must be clear as what I am expecting from myself. Those, who have no expectations from themselves, have no right to expect anything from others. So, just ask your self:- What are your expectations from yourself?- Where do you see yourself in next 5-7 yrs?- How you wish to be remembered by your family members, your friends, your sub-ordinates and your colleagues?Expectations in RelationsImagine, if you don’t know, what are the expectations of:- Your parents - Your Children - Your gurus/teachers/faculties - Your Students - Your SpouseYour Friends, family members and people around you Don’t presume things? Don’t think that everybody knows everything? If there are no expectations, t

Join The Fight One Promotion At A Time
We’ve all seen them. Pinned to lapels in the work place, stuck on the bumpers of cars or ironed on to the backpacks of college students - the universal red ribbon. In its early years, the red ribbon symbolized the continuing fight against the growing AIDS epidemic. Now that idea — increasing awareness and support through a promotional product — has spread to include several other important causes across the nation. Why? Because when executed correctly, it works and it works well.In an article called "Cause Branding and the 21st Century,” Carol Cone of Cone, Inc., writes, “cause programs have become a standard and widely accepted business practice with many of the world’s largest companies running comprehensive campaigns supported by substantial advertising and communications resources.” These communication resources include promotional products that have a long life and major visibility for both clients and target audiences. When connected to an important and pressing cause, like breast cancer and AIDS, promotional products bolster overall support and awareness while often helping to increase fundraising dollars at the same time. Take the yellow bracelet from the Lance Armstrong Foundation’s “Live Strong” campaign as an example. Once the yellow rubber bracelets popped up around the country, not only did a vast majority of the population own one, the
