Young, Ambitious and in Your First Job? Want to Climb the Ladder to Success?
Every business loves young and ambitious employees. They offer great value to a business and can often come up with new ideas. I would offer you the following advice:* Find a hole and jump into it. Basically find something that will of value to your company and make yourself the expert of “goto guy” for that service etc. Think of things like understanding a particular market such as young single men, or maybe be good at thinking up jingles, slogans etc. Anything that will have people coming to you to ask for your advice or including you on your team. You must be careful that you are not only known for this otherwise they will promote you so that they will not lose you! * Keep your eyes open and your mouth shut. Take every opportunity to learn things by observing others. Try not to be seen as the upstart who keeps asking questions at awkward times. People will understand that you need to ask questions at your stage in your career, but try to make them insightful and at appropriate times. Don’t ask questions about things you can easily find out yourself, but don’t take too long on completing tasks because you don’t know what you are doing.* Find a mentor.Sometimes people are recommended for a particular role or position. Often a more experienced

“Some contend that differentiation is nuts – bad for moral” – Jack WelchWe get taught from a very young age that differentiation is bad, and that people’s feelings can get hurt, and people will be upset. But this leaves us in an emotional rollercoaster.Business is not about emotion, it’s about money and making it. It’s about being the best, beating your competitors, and succeeding. Yes, it doesn’t mean we should be cold hearted, but we need to be driven by the goal, making money, not by emotion. If we work on an emotional level, we should join some non profit organization, that allows us to work on emotion, and caring for others.I see two places for differentiation. The first is inside our business. We cannot treat all our employees the same, because they do not all perform the same. Some employees perform much better than others, and should be rewarded for that. You see, as owners of a small business we have very little resources to throw around. We need to make every cent count. So employing someone who does not perform is a complete waste, and we should rid our businesses of them as soon as possible. However, when we have an employee that does perform they should be rewarded. Rewarding those that do perform and removing those that don’t is a great way for us to build a winni

Success in business and in life comes to those who can sustain energy, creativity and passion in the midst of continual change, stress and competition. Information overload leaves us struggling to sustain that passion and drive and achieve the work/life balance that is essential to our growth and well-being. We are being bombarded with information every day and are working in different environments that require more accountability and have higher expectations than 10 years ago.Individual and organizational resilience is needed now more than ever. Webster’s Dictionary defines resilience as the ability to recover from misfortune or change. Mike Jay, author of CPR for the Soul and Founder of Leadership University defines it as “the integrated power to persist when things don’t work out at first; to navigate ambiguity and uncertainty; to transcend common problems and barriers and to anticipate the future in a sustainable way.”According to Albert Bandura, individuals are instilled with certain capabilities that define what it is like to be human. Among those capabilities are: the ability to learn from our mistakes, plan for the future, reflect on ourselves and situations and manage our emotions. These capabilities provide us with the tools to control our own future and remain resilient in changing t

Here Are Some Things That May Help You, With Your Move.First of all, get a signed contract. You don't know all the people who have given their hard earned money to get their home moved, only to have their move date changed constantly or have their homes damaged by inept movers. And when the home is finally moved, it is not set up right. Remember, by having a signed contract, you have the legal right to make sure your home is taking care of.Make sure the Toter driver moving your home has LIABILITY and or CARGO INSURANCE. This covers your home if there is damage and it's his fault. Your mover should have this insurance in his truck at all times, so don't believe any excuses, and demand to see it. I've repaired many homes that were damaged by careless toter drivers, who didn't have a lick of insurance. The main reason you will get a low bid for a move, is because these guys have low overhead. If we didn't bother with insurance or drove toters that shouldn't even be on the highway, our overhead would be low too. Also, What I like to suggest to customers, is to contact their homeowners insurance agent, and inquire about MOVING or TRIP insurance. This will cover any damage to your home, that is not our fault. Just going down the highway, you can break a window, crack a ceiling, or pop trim off a wall
