188+ step Hero's Journey (Monomyth) - Story Structure for Screenwriting

Studies are beginning to show that college students are showing a rising ego rush that is a "red flag" for problems in their personal and social lives.

The so called, Millennial Generation, also called Gen Y, is beginning to exhibit signs of losing interest in emotionally intimate bonds. In my professional practice, I am seeing young clients who are lashing out in inappropriate ways when rejected or insulted.

Are we heading towards a society where our future adult population is going to treat each other with a lack of respect and an inability to connect with each other?

College students are showing signs of elevated narcissism. Examples of inflated egos might be: students who talk on their cell phones when others are studying in the quiet atmosphere of school computer centers; or students who "expect" good grades just because they show up for class.

How does Emotional Intelligence (EQ) fit into all of this? EQ is related to the ability to understand one's own feelings and behaviors as well as the capacity to sense the feelings and needs of others. EQ utilizes information in a way that enhances interpersonal relationships. Empathy, compassion, cooperation, and forgiveness are components of EQ. Without these emotions, people cannot connect to each other. They then become aggressive and pay no attention to the feelings or needs of others; they threaten others' rights, violate or offend the rights of others and think only of themselves.

If, in fact, the Millennial Generations (Gen Y) has an inflated sense of self and tends to have less interest in emotionally intimate bonds, eventually we could have a society in which narcissistic behavior is considered to be the norm.
