7 Key Features Of Integrated Pathology Lab Workflow And Electronic Medical Billing Software us; communication takes place - for bad or for good - when we're trying and when we're not.Chairing a Pathology Department at Centrastate Hospital in New Jersey and simultaneously running two laboratories in two remote states (Oklahoma and New Jersey) require Dr. Michael McGinnis to match his medical expertise with savvy business sense."A pathologist must track workflow of the entire laboratory from receiving a sample and requisition form, to accessioning, to patient demographics, to history, to gross, dictation, proof, distribution, and billing," says Dr. McGinnis. "I need to know precisely what unfinished work is left at each stage in every lab. I need to track every step and know exactly who has done what regardless of their location. And I need this information in real time. For instance, I need the list of signed off reports arranged by requesting doctor, date, patient, or payer, in real time." Information Systems Challenges in a Pathology Laboratory Pathology billing is especially complicated because it requires: Data flowing between Hospital system, Multiple requesting doctors, Internal laboratory system, External billing service, and Multiple insurance companies A system of checks and balances to Prevent losing a case Ensure full and timely payment Continuous Measurement Billing quality is best understood by observing the distribution of Accounts Receivable. A well-performing service will have half of the claims paid within 15 days, with over 90% of all claims being paid within 45 days. The narrower "bell-curve" of Accounts Receivable means better cash flow predictability while its lower "tail" means added revenue. Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) "Gone are the disk crashes and software maintenance. No more office staff moods and conflicts to resolve or benefits to pay. I now pay only for performance, which makes perfect business sense," says Dr. McGinnis. "Finally, I can replace my administrative assistants with medical specialists that can take over some of my workload and add revenue." Mission-Critical System Features The following seven features are critical for accomplishing the benefits listed above: Comprehensive integrated functionality covering entire laboratory workflow Internet-based access to data entry and reporting An interface between hospital internal system and external billing service Arbitrary aggregation and comprehensive analysis of all laboratory and billing data Full and transparent access to each and every claim, from accession number to coding to payment 24x7 status A. Sender The sender has something he wants to share with someone else. In our simplified model, the sender is the person communicating. Unfortunately the sender's information is in his mind. and just as hard to sleep after.
Anne Morrow Lindbergh, 'Gift from the Sea'The arena of mortgage refinancing is increasing every day. People understand the economics of mortgage refinancing. They are making small home improvements and upgrading homes by utilizing the current low interest rates, which is resulting in greater savings and lower monthly payments. The refinancing of home mortgages has many benefits, such as lower interest rates and improved saving levels, shorter mortgage term to become debt-free sooner, and cashing out on existing home equity to meet urgent personal expenses.Taking a home mortgage loan under the guidance of a finance expert would be the sanest decision. The procedures and the costs incurred in taking a home mortgage loan will be the same as when purchasing a new home loan. While applying for a home loan refinance, one may have to face various costs such as paying an application fee to the refinancing company to cover initial processing costs, paying the attorney review fees (which are generally paid to the person who does the closing), the prepayment penalty, and other miscellaneous charges. It has to be kept in mind that when applying for a home loan refinance, the lender may ignore some of the closing costs if the work related to the closing of the mortgage is current. The main factors that inspire people to refinance are the ongoing interest rates. People understand that rates have gone down since they first mortgaged their homes, and desire a lower interest rate and monthly payment. Usually people benefit from refinancing when interest rates have dropped two or more points.Nonetheless, the initial costs of refinancing the home mortgage are generally split between the buyer and the seller. If all of these costs are incurred again, the refinancing will obviously be more costly. Normally, such costs run between three and five percent of the amount refinanced. The variation exists because some costs can be specific to local markets or states. However, if one takes care of his interest deduction points and approaches a credible lender with the help of a finance specialist, the whole process of refinancing a home mortgage becomes easy. The word communicate comes from the latin communis or common. We speak of a common room that everyone shares or a university commons where everyone shares the space. It indicates that two people or two groups have something shared in common but in our world today I maintain that there is nothing common about communication. Many of the world's problems and disputes can be traced to poor communication. The dictionary defines communication as the transmission of information, thought or feeling so that it is satisfactorily received or understood. As a working definition we'll consider that communication has been successful if there is shared understanding between those trying to communicate. So what is the result of shared understanding? What are the implications of a lack of shared understanding? Does shared understanding guarantee acceptance, openness and trust between people and groups? I maintain that while good communication doesn't guarantee our lives will be enhanced, poor communication will make bad situations worse and make it difficult to have and maintain open, useful relationships in life. The outcome, then, of successful communication should be to increase understanding and thereby improve relationships - and who doesn't need improved relationships? Families, co-workers, governments all need better communication. So let's examine what happens when we communicate, where the problems lie, and what we can each do to improve our communication skills. I. The pieces of the communication process Communication is a two-way street, and people tend to structure their phrases along well-traveled linguistic routes to optimize thier chances of being understood. --Christopher Manning, Stanford University Communication is a process; that is, it has definable steps that can be examined. We will look at communicating as a cycle going round and round unendingly. Remember, however, that examining the communication process is like putting your VCR on pause; you look at a frozen snapshot of a dynamic, unending process. It's often been said that one cannot not communicate unless you're dead or unconscious; communication takes place - for bad or for good - when we're trying and when we're not. A. As a working definition we'll consider that communication has been successful if there is shared understanding between those trying to communicate. How do I choose a college that is right for me? This is the question that I’m asked at least once a week. And frankly, it isn’t easy trying to explain to students (and their parents) one very basic fact of the college admissions process: You don’t choose the college. The college chooses you. Here is a very simple way you can look at this complicated process. You and a crowd of high school graduates are standing on one side of a big field. Each one of you desperately wants to go to a good college. On the other side of the field are all the colleges and universities that exist in the country. After assessing your qualifications (merit), you send applications to all of the schools that you wish to attend. The admissions officer at those schools sends you a letter of acceptance or rejection. Out of your acceptances, you pick one college and walk across that field and through the doors of that particular institution. For different reasons, different students will go to different colleges and some will not go at all.Did you make the choice or did someone make it for you? Usually, the college makes the choice for you. You get to choose from those schools that actually choose you. For the most part, the people who work in college admissions are gatekeepers. They can accept or reject your application at will. If necessary, they can come up with some pretty convincing evidence to support their decisions: high or low entrance exam scores, excellent or poor grades, outstanding or terrible writing samples, or an abundance or lack of extracurricular activities.Based on such criteria, it seems as if everybody in that big open field is getting a fair shot based on merit. But this only disguises some of the built in advantages that go to you if you are a student who has the “right” background. The reality is that most students just don’t have the “right” background. Supposedly, the good news about higher education is that it is egalitarian. Regardless of your background, there is a college on the other side of that field that fits you--all the way from the community college with its open door admissions policy to the elite university with its not-so-open door admissions policy. It seems as if that great tracking system you thought you escaped in high school tracks you right into college and your place in society. So are you going to choose or be chosen? With very few exceptions, most of you will be chosen. It hurts me to say that because it suggests that there is something terribly twisted about our entire educational system. Maybe, it is. Maybe, it isn’t. Until the verdict comes in, here’s what I suggest you do:Suggestion #1Know that the college admissions process is a game mostly decided by people who must make assumption So what is the result of shared understanding? They can strengthen the immune system, inhibit the growth of tumors, manage blood pressure and increase sexuality – indeed, the range is very wide. There are numerous herbs, including those that are considered common and those that are the jealously guarded secrets of traditional Chinese herbalists. Here are some examples of Chinese herbs and what all they can be used for:Ginseng is a commonly available root that has a flair for healing and rejuvenation. The Korean ginseng, for example, stimulates the cerebral cortex and counters exhaustion and extreme infirmity. It helps to replenish depleted energy and body fluids. It can also stimulate the sex glands and is capable of removing toxins from the body. The taste is mildly bittersweet. The black and red Reishi mushrooms are other examples of prized Chinese herbs. They can strengthen the immune system, increase vitality of white blood corpuscles and accentuate the impact of anti-oxidants. These mushrooms also have a calming influence on the mind. They alleviate insomnia and female sexual dysfunction. The Lotus seed is yet another indispensable Chinese herb. It tones the kidney and spleen and eases diarrhea. It stimulates appetite and has a sweet to neutral taste. The Licorice root comes as a blessing because it can detoxify the body, invigorating and cooling it down at the same time. It acts as an analgesic and can regulate the action of other herbs. It can also be used as a natural sweetener.Ginko biloba is a distinguished herb and arguably the oldest in traditional Chinese medicine. It has proven beneficial effects on the heart and lungs. It is used to treat coughs, asthma, and chronic allergic inflammation, and is one of the best herbal nutritional supplements available. Secrets to a Powerful Headline us; communication takes place - for bad or for good - when we're trying and when we're not.Is that my butt? Now that's an interesting question. But to be quite honest I'm not concerned with my butt. Not your butt. Not any one's butt.But...The question sure got your attention. Just like it got mine. And that is the purpose of a powerful headline.Let's start this story from the beginning:Here I am sitting at the doctors office. I'm waiting for my wife to get done with her check up. And no, we are not expecting a baby, thank you.Anyway... Here I sit. Notebook in hand. I brought it to write some content for a new website. So I'm looking around just waiting (hoping?) for the creative juices to start flowing. You know how it is waiting at the doctors office. I started staring at all those magazines. You know... All those waiting room magazines. No Hot Rod or anything interesting like that. And then I saw it. "Is That My Butt?". Right on the front cover of Seventeen, April, 2002 Edition.Normally that's not the type of reading I'm into. But I couldn't resist. I just had to find out what the heck that question was all about. So yes, I walked clear across the waiting room just to see that magazine. The story was about jeans. No, I did not read it. But the headline worked. And it worked well! And that's what you need to do with your headlines. Grab their attention. And to be really effective you should be a little creative. You've got a lot of competition out there so sometimes being completely of the wall is required. As long as you can make it fit. Some of the best headlines I've ever seen are at the supermarket check out. The tabloids. Headlines like Three Headed Martian Calls 97 Year old Grandmother from Outer Space.Yeah, it's silly. But people look. And then they see other headlines like 33 Year old Kansas School Teacher Reveals Life after 17 Divorces. That's a slightly more believable. And people want to know. So they buy. Here's four things you can put in your headlines to make them pull.Benefit:How to make money. Most of us want to know how to make more. Don't you? If someone knows more about a subject than we do, we want to know. Nosy creatures, aren't we?Occupation:What's the job of the person with all this knowledge? Is it an expert of some kind sharing their valuable secrets? Or some average Joe that stumbles on a unique idea.Geography:Where do they live or where did this happen?Odd numbers:Odd numbers make your headline more specific and believable. This type of headline works because people want to know about people. And they (we) want to know what other people know that can improve our lives.Shall we try one?Benefit: How to be debt A. Sender The sender has something he wants to share with someone else. In our simplified model, the sender is the person communicating. Unfortunately the sender's information is in his mind. While much work has been done on trying to prove ESP, for most of us we've got to get the information we want to share out of our mind and into the other person's mind by other means. B. Receiver The receiver is just that - the other person or persons that the sender is trying to communicate with. What we'll find is that the receiver has some obstacles in the way that will affect whether shared understanding is achieved or not. While the sender has the responsibility to craft a clear message, the receiver has additional responsibilities of hearing, listening, and providing feedback. C. A message The message is not just some words. The message is a rich combination of thoughts, feelings, words, and meanings. Even a sender that says, "it's simple", doesn't realize the blended nature of the message they want to convey. Many communication problems stem from the idea that communication is simple. D. Some ways of generating a signal Speak clearly, if you speak at all; carve every word before you let it fall. Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. (1809 - 1894) The signal we are speaking of is how we encode the message in our heads and broadcast it to the receiver. We'll find that this includes more than the sounds of words; it can include feelings, attitudes, and our unique personality. If you think about this, all communication is indirect in that we use the tools of language and nonverbal communication to attempt to share what we are experiencing inside ourselves. E. A brain I would while away the hours, Conversin' with the flowers . . . If I only had a brain. -- The Scarecrow in the Wizard of OZ Our brains are rich, complicated places. All communication is filtered through our personality, our background, our upbringing, our culture, and our current state of being. When you are tired or stressed or in circumstances that are unpleasant, communication becomes that much harder. F. Shared understanding Speak properly, and in as few words as you can, but always plainly; for the end of speech is not ostentation but to be understood. William Penn We return to our definition. The degree to which someone understands what we are trying to communicate will depend on many factors. How much alike are we? Do we share any background experiences? Are our language skills, attitudes, beliefs similar or dissimilar? What assumptions have we made about each other based on stereotypes? It's probably fair to say that the degree of understanding could be rated on a scale from very well understood to c
