    Is Traditional Publicity Dead?
If you want to get into a long and painful conversation, simply ask any promotion agency or Fortune 500 exec about the many pitfalls and hardships or concocting convincing promotion. You hear buzzwords like "consumer-centric camp signs" or "fragmented promotion".What is fragmentation exactly? It's the increase in the amount of available methods for getting your idea to your customers. One of the fundamental hardships faced by any businessman is that promotion has changed and evolved over the last few years. Not limited to one area of p

Client Focus and the Impact on the Internal Organization - An Article Publishing Example
Article marketing is just like a real business; there are the employees or freelancers (authors), the publishing system and the editors (together the internal organization) and there are ... the clients (the readers). The goal is to get satisfied clients. And there is always a problem. For example the article-parts-problem. This is a normal business problem. An organization should arrange its business between internal efficiency requirements and external (client) demands. The employee (the author) Certain authors write thei
Over time, I have heard from several people who shared their stories of working with high maintenance managers (HMM). The most interesting were from people with family businesses whose spouse or parent is a HMM. That adds some interesting implications!

What happens when your HMM has crossed lines with you? Ideally you want all conflict, especially from situations where you feel beaten down, to cease. If you have years of experience working with all kinds of people (including a few HMMs), you know that striving for conflict resolution with this type of person can sometimes be rewarding, and is often frustrating. 6 Performance Measure Facilitator Attributes
Over the last 5 or so years, there seems to be an ever-increasing number of organisations that are creating a new role in the corporate office: the Performance Measurement Officer. Actually, the title of this role varies from organisation to organisation, and where exactly in the organisation structure that role is placed also varies.Titles for performance measure facilitator positions have included Performance Measurement Officer, Performance Measurement Director, Manager Performance Measurement, Corporate Planning and Performance Reportin

    Employees Need Some Perspective
Would you like to have your employees walk a few miles in your shoes? Looking for a simple way to explain the flow of the revenue and expenses for your business? Want to change the perspective on the gap between wages and amounts charged to customers? Adapt this exercise to your small business situation.George's Auto ServiceEvery person entering the management ranks of a large communications company were required to attend a management orientation workshop.During one workshop the facilitator handed out a little case study and

Direct Mail = Your Money, From Printer to Mailbox to Trash!
I did a quick, very unscientific survey of 25 of my friends. I asked them to put the mail that they do not open or read in a specific trash bag. At the end of one week they gave it to me to be weighed. Guess how much the bag weighed? Remember, most mail is a fraction of an ounce. 63.4.....not ounces....lbs! Something is wrong with this picture! That's like 2 1/2 pounds per person per week! Holy Cow! Also this was a March survey, what if it had been done in November?Let's get a grip on this absolute waste of paper, ink, money and time! The

    Wake Up Excited About Work!
Imagine waking up every morning eager to go to work! Unfortunately for the vast majority of workers this seems like the impossible dream. And yet, there are those folks who do achieve it. They are invigorated by work and happily head off to work day after day. What is it about them or their work that makes such a difference?Consider for a minute that you had just won the lottery. What kind of energy would you have when you got up the next morning? How is this different from the way you feel when facing another Monday morning? Wouldn’t it be

Use the Help of an Advocate

Does your HMM respect (and even fear) someone at the office? Could that person be your advocate? This is probably the best alternative for getting the person to change his or her approach and for reducing the amount of your stress. This is what I did - and have done a couple times - and it worked well. It's important to try to talk with the HMM first, before going to the advocate. It is also helpful if you, the HMM, and the advocate can meet together. If that is not
