Economic Justice
The people who have enough to eat in this world either produce the food, hunt and gather it, or pay others to provide it. In few instances do these people produce meaningful surplus for those who do not have enough to eat. Until the well fed care about the hungry and starving, there will be no economic justice anywhere, only privilege. That is how simple or complex the issue is. The minute an individual takes on the responsibility to feed her or himself, s/he begins creating low cost surpluses for those unable to do so. It makes sense to grow more plants in a global greenhouse. The more surplus an individual produces, the more likely starving people will eat. Economics affect every aspect of life, including spirituality, yet it is the least understood of the sciences because economics are poorly taught or not taught at all. Most economists have little understanding. That little understanding makes them the experts.The global value system determines economics. That value system is based on scarcity, commonly called the law of supply and demand. Thousands of years ago the arbiters of value and wealth decided that gold, silver and precious stones were the rarest and therefore, the most valuable. Of all resources, people were the least scarce. So people have the least value in this old system. This is foolishness of the highest order and creates disposable people. There are few people living today, who cannot in their lifetimes, produce more value than their own weight in gold. Use yourself as an example. Multiply the current market price of gold by your body weight. Divide that by a typical productive life of 40 or 50 years. Are you earning more or less than this dollar value each year? Keep in mind most folks are paid less than half their market value or earnings.The economic system we support undervalues life, because life is not scarce. The corporate world would rather have your weight in gold than you, even if you can produce five times that value. That corporate world might not harvest twenty percent of your lifetime value, unless you support their system. If you do support it, you will probably give them a big cut in your home mortgage or business loans and every paycheck. But they will always treat you as expendable, because your kind is never scarce. If we want to be fairly valued in the market place, we must be scarce in that market place. Is it Time to Rewrite the Holy Books? (1)
The pastor from the Evangelical Church in Hackney, London, was patient but firm. There was definitely life after death, one where we would all be judged by God. But eternal salvation was possible only through strict adherence to the teachings of the Bible, and these were not negotiable.Though I listened to him with interest, and respected him and his views, my convictions were set in concrete. My only afterlife would exist in someone else's head. I too believe in God but I also believe I was placed on earth for a reason and any judgement would not be reserved just for the future. The full works would be meted out right here and now: in the quality of my life and for treating others in ways which reflected God's teachings of charity, kindness and forgiveness. Not just for following the holy book while bitching my neighbours into the ground with selfishness and greed, being discriminatory towards them or blasting them into oblivion to feed my desire for power.The pastor wouldn't budge. He spoke slowly and softly, as if to a lost child in need of paternal guidance. Life on earth was insignificant compared to life in heaven or hell and, anyway, my ideas had no foundation because they were not in the Bible. Black people were hardly mentioned in the Bible either, but that did not negate our presence! It seemed that everyone could quote the Bible, or their holy book, to suit their own purpose. And that is the problem with anything written so long ago. The messages get lost down the ages, gathering momentum in their obscurity as the messengers grow bloated with bigotry. Being learned charlatans of each faith, they continually use such books to maintain their power while the meanings and application become more irrelevant to our world and our needs, and the interpretation of each phrase multiply faster than an ant's nest to suit every act and occasion.The customary straw poll of students within British educational establishments, to assess current levels of faith, might be unscientific but no less indicative of a growing areligious society. The average of people still attending church, or considering themselves religious, is now about 12 out of every 30, and falling. While these students turn their backs on Christianity, yet with nothing else to fill the gap, the Bible marches on in its obscurity and irrelevance, with its singular emphasis on Jews, Gentiles, Hebrews (no Blacks), its strange outdated place names and its vi

This troublesome kind of bias is beyond reproach because sites like Memphis have been built over and for all intents and purposes destroyed. In the efforts of people like Schliemann (Troy) and Evans (Crete) to uncover their dreams that led from the 'myths' of Homer they also confused and made horrible mistakes that allow debunking science to discredit artifacts that would have proven valuable. Taking Hold of the Resurrection Power
There are certain things that we read in Scripture that many people simply have a hard time wrapping their minds around. Here's one, for example: The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells within you (Romans 8:11).Do you believe that?Personally, I don't believe we can be reminded of this truth often ENOUGH. I daresay, it's because we are NOT reminded of this that the Church remains so impotent and ineffective. As 2 Timothy 3:5 says, we have a "form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!"When Jesus read from Isaiah, (Luke 4:18), "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind,to set at liberty those who are oppressed...," what was He saying that applied to you and me?Well, if the same Spirit that raised Him from the dead dwells within US - the very same Spirit who was upon Jesus, the Anointed King - the Christ - making Jesus the anointed Head of The Church - THAT would mean that we, too, can do everything Jesus did and said we can do.Right?Jesus Himself declared that, "... these signs will accompany those who believe: In My Name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well,"(Mark 16:16-18).In John 14:12, He assured us, "...if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father."In Acts 1: 7,8, just before His Ascension, we read where He said to His disciples, “...you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you..."We are His disciples, too, and we've been commissioned to reproduce. Jesus said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you...," (Matthew 28:18-20).Where duplication is concerned, the apostle Paul said (Romans 1:5,6) "It is through Him that we have received grace and apostleship to promote obedience to the faith and make disciples for His Name's sake am

A good neighborhood may not have breathtaking landscaping or BMWs parked outside the homes, but the yard will be trimmed and free of trash, and the cars will appear to be in good working order. The Hero's Journey (Monomyth) is the template upon which the vast majority of successful stories and Hollywood blockbusters are based upon.
