Joseph Gave Obedience.
Joseph was told "Keep her, but do not sleep with her" (Matthew 1:24-25). Obedience is something within us that keeps us walking the straight and narrow of the Lord’s path. Your service does not mean that you are obedient—check your heart to see if you are giving the gift of obedience to Jesus or if you are only obeying your religious upbringing, rules from another, or from your ministry position. God in the flesh said "If you love Me, keep my commandments".
The Shepherds Gave Praise.
They met Jesus and praised Him. This praise of Jesus is not a one-time event or a one season event but rather a life of praise to be lived out each and every day we have breath. The writer of an ancient song says "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord". This breath of praise is not within a meeting or only during a special time; it is not and should not be limited to what we consider to be our 'worship' service. This idea of praise is a celebration of the recognition that God has been given to us and is among us; no longer in a manger and no longer on a cross. Our life breathe allows us to work and play and love and live; it is with this life-action that we praise the Breath-giver most fully.

It cost them to follow the star to find Jesus; resources, time, and possibly reputation. It cost them to give gold, incense, and a rare perfume. They trusted that this was the right path. They obeyed what they knew (even though it was not a full revelation). They recognized that their worship was not really worthy of a king without sacrifice.

Product creation. The term itself sounds scary. And I guess rightly so. I have seen $47 ebooks with less information than in my free ebooks or my $9.77 version. What will you give?
As I write "what will you give?" it bothers me because it seems to be a rather superficial question. The better question, possibly the right question this year, may be "what won’t you give in 2007?" The first question is a matter of offering a small amount (even if it appears large), while the second question is a matter of offering it all.
The question of what will you give is a juvenile and immature question meant for a child. We can ask our children today, what will you give and have ready made little answers for them: Give this money I gave you for offering today, Give a kind word, Give your time in Sunday School today, or Give a gift to the needy once a year.
But for us, for those who have walked with God and by the nature of our time on this earth there is another place we must be; and this place is a one of giving it all.
If our lives are spent deciding what wrapped up and neatly tied gift we will give to Jesus then we will miss His heart. He says today "Seek first My rule and ALL THESE THINGS will be added unto you".
When we see how little we can give then we become little. When we see how much we can give, then we become much bigger. When we see how much life we can have then we have a much smaller life. When we give our life up to the King, then we will receive a much bigger life. When we see how big we can become then we become small and insignificant. When we see how big He can become then we will become giants and extremely significant for eternity.
This next year, what won’t you give?
The God Who Gives Us Breath gives His all for you.
