Founded by free-settlers in 1835, 47 years after the first European settlement of Australia, the famous Victorian gold rush of the 1850s transformed Melbourne from a small pastoral settlement situated around the Yarra River into a vibrant metropolis. So much so that by 1865, Australian’s were calling the city “Marvelous Melbourne"Melbourne even served as the temporary national capital from the Federation of Australia in 1901 until the construction of Canberra in 1927.The City of Melbourne (pronounced Mel-ban NOT Mel-bourne) is located on the south -east part of Australia and has the second highest population of any Australian c --A "model" business to imitate or emulate, --Documented standards for your business. I am a student of business economy in Berlin, Germany. I would be very happy if you could give me an answer. Thanks and have a nice day. Kind regards, A. R., Berlin, Germany 2. Evolution of a Definition... This question gives me a chance to review our basic premises again. I have heard people use the term "business model" many ways. Often, people refer to a specific business process as a business model. For example, I've heard people call their sal'es process a business model. Similarly, you could program a simulation model for your manufacturing process and call it a business model. So, let's examine what the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language says (excerpts). Business: 1. a. The occupation, work, or trade in which a person is engaged [...] b. However, I think the classifieds offer a number of opportunities, even in this growing digital world. Furthermore, the suggestions I would like to share can help you create free ads on websites such as Craigslist and Merchant Circle.Classified ads can bring in more business than regular newspaper ads because they function somewhat like daily yellow pages. Though the numbers of yellow page subscribers shrinks each day, newspaper subscribers continue to remain more or less equal. Furthermore, most newspapers host their classifieds online, providing easier access for folks seeking to purchase a good or service. Thus, when people pick up a newspaper and thumb through the classifieds, they Business: 1. a. The occupation, work, or trade in which a person is engaged [...] b. A preliminary work or construction that serves as a plan from which a final product is to be made[...]Have you ever considered why lawyers have the biggest advertisements in the Yellow Pages? Well perhaps you should think on which advertisements do the best in the Yellow Pages and why. If you are an established business you do not need to advertise in the Yellow Pages because you have plenty of referrals from satisfied customers.Of course if you are a lawyer the chances of you having satisfied customers and are getting referrals is rare because you probably overcharged every one and they feel like they've been ripped off. Have you ever heard the saying there's a sucker born every minute? Well as a lawyer you need to find all those suckers, but once they've been burned they will not refer you to other suckers that they will meet. This is why I believe most lawyers have the biggest advertis 3. Because I'm a job-quitting expert, and my expertise has been gained through experience. I've quit many jobs in many industries. In fact, I can think of fifteen jobs that I've quit off the top of my head. The most recent job I quit was at the Post Office. Don't let anyone tell you that you'll get used to the schedule of a vampire - you won't. Now it has been over two years since I've had a job. The real issue of course is, "How to quit your job and still pay the bills." Here are some ideas, based on experience.Don't Think Like An EmployeeSome employees are afraid of their employers, and feel dependent on them. Some even feel bitter or "trapped." But why think that way? Even if you stay at your present job twenty more years (t --A "model" business to imitate or emulate, --Documented standards for your business. So, let's say you were going to build a business. You've decided you want to build the "McDonalds" of shoeshine parlors - with parlors all over the planet! First, you'd need to design and build your model business - your franchise prototype. Your model would define the pattern for all your shoeshine parlors to follow. It would specify the services, the color scheme, the logo, the way your business treats customers, everything - what to say, what to do, and how to do it. You would write all this stuff down in Operations Manuals so you could duplicate the business over and over. You could then sell your franchise - your turn-key shoeshine parlor business - to others who want to own a business but don't want to build it from the ground up. My point is this. Your model parlor defines how all the other parlors must work to provide consistent quality, service, value, etc. All successful franchises use the "model" concept, whether they call it that or not. That's why your order of a Big Mac, chocolate shake, and fries is exactly the same in Toronto, Toledo, Topeka, or Timbuktu. NOTE: The same idea applies to a single facility business. If all your business processes are documented, a single business (big or small) can provide consistent quality, service, value, etc. If all your business processes are documented, your business can provide the customer extraordinary results using ordinary people. You don't need to hire prima donnas! It doesn't matter if your business is a small sandwich shop, or a giant computer chip maker like Intel. My company, Senior Management Services, has more than 13,000 pages in its Operations Manuals that define all the business processes. These Operations Manuals are "living documents" that we update as times and markets change. If I hire a new accountant, that person receives applicable sections of the Operations Manual that show the business processes necessary to do the accounting successfully. Since the work is documented, I don't need to hire an accounting "expert." 4. Are you stuck with "tribal knowledge?" If you have not documented your business model and business processes, your business operates on "tribal knowledge," which means your employees transmit business processes (technology) by word-of-mouth, from person to person. Tribal knowledge means that as an employee you must know the right guy - and he must be willing to tell you how to do the job. (Good Lu
