Kalkan

Kalkan is a tiny fishing village on the south coast set in a natural bay with warm waters and a high standard of construction to be found in general. It is popular with British tourists already who are looking for seclusion and a quiet life. The narrow winding streets full of gift shops selling hand crafts and tourist wares is reminiscent of Mijas in Andalucia, Spain. The downside of buying in Kalkan is due to access problems. During the autumn and winter seasons there is limited access because the nearest airport in Dalaman is closed when the tourist season ends. Alternatively there is a five hour drive from Antalya along the coast which after a flight from western or northern Europe is too much for most people. For a picture of Kalkan click here.

Antalya

Easily our recommendation for it's all round attraction. Although property prices are slightly higher than in other places in the country Antalya wins our vote because it has a ten month season where temperatures are at the least temperate and during the height of summer some of the highest Mediterranean temperatures are recorded. The higher price of property is reflected in the quality of build though. During our travels over the last few years elsewhere in Turkey we have seen some very low levels of care and attention to detail in building construction and although Antalya is not without it's own examples of bad workmanship, we are proud to only include quality projects from proven construction firms. Additionally the Antalya International Airport has just completed a second terminal building for international travelle
